Charitable Allowance Program Launch

We are introducing a Charitable Allowance Program to our students in grades 4 to 7 to empower your children to make a difference! Students will be given an allowance of $10 a month over this school year to donate to the cause of their choice using CHIMP – an online platform that makes it easy to donate to charities across Canada. (This is the same platform that we have been using for our Walkathon fundraiser.)  The Charitable Allowance Program is a great opportunity for us to discuss the importance of charitable giving with students, get them thinking about causes they care about and how they can have an impact.

The Charity Allowance Program is motivated by CHIMP’s mission to help people think, feel, and act like philanthropists. Kids aren’t always given a chance to learn about the roles they can play in their community as donors. Charity Allowance aims to:

  • Engage students to have actionable conversations with their teachers about philanthropy;
  • Encourage students to make their own decisions about supporting the causes that matter most to them;
  • Provide an innovative way to teach basic financial literacy but through a charity centered approach.

Starting his month, students will be provided with monthly allowances of $10 each over a 9 month period.  Over the course of the school year, teachers and students will engage in learning about different avenues for giving.

When youth are taught about giving, and empowered to make their own decisions, they’re better able to become engaged citizens contributing consistently and positively to society.

Thank you for your continued support of our education programs at St. Edmunds.
